Many of us knew this product as Performance Center. LoadRunner Enterprise is the multi-user, server based sibling of LoadRunner Professional. Scripts are still written in VuGen with the same protocol coverage, but scenarios, load generators, timeslots, and results live on a central server accessed through a browser. Teams reserve capacity, run tests in parallel, and managers see utilisation and trends across every project.
That model exists for one reason: when an organisation has dozens of applications and a shared performance team, you need governance as much as you need load.
What you get
The protocol list is the LoadRunner list, which is still unmatched: web and TruClient, SAP GUI and SAP Web, Citrix, Oracle NCA, RDP, .NET, Java, and more. Load generators can be on-premises, in the cloud, or provisioned on demand from Docker images. Timeslot reservation prevents two teams fighting over the same injectors, and the licence pool of virtual users is shared rather than locked to a desk.
Trend reports across runs, SLA definitions, and online monitoring of servers are built in, and the REST API plus Jenkins and Azure DevOps plugins let a pipeline trigger a scheduled test. Git integration for scripts and support for JMeter and Gatling scripts alongside VuGen mean the platform can host the tests your teams already have.
Where it falls short
Everything about it is heavyweight. You need servers for the LoadRunner Enterprise server, hosts, and database, plus Windows in most of the stack, and a team to administer it. Licensing is quote based and expensive, and upgrades are projects rather than package updates. Scripting is still C for most protocols, and developers used to k6 or Gatling will find the workflow slow. If you are a single team, LoadRunner Professional or LoadRunner Cloud delivers the same protocols with far less overhead.

OpenText is bringing its Aviator assistant to the LoadRunner family for script generation, correlation help, and results analysis. It is arriving incrementally and depends on your version and licensing, so I rate it Adequate for now.
Bottom line: choose LoadRunner Enterprise when a central performance team serves many applications, needs SAP or Citrix protocols, and must govern licences and load generators across projects. For a single team or a modern web stack, it is more platform than you need.
